Chaperones
What is a chaperone?
A chaperone acts in place of a parent and should exercise the care which a parent would be expected to give those children. Chaperones primary duty is to ensure the health, safety and education of all children in their care, whilst ensuring no child is discriminated against.
Why do we need them?
Chaperones are needed to ensure the safety and well-being of children. They can be required for children participating in public performances Chaperones are required to ensure that children are properly supervised and cared for during public performances. Chaperones are responsible for the child's health, safety, and education. They must also ensure that the child is treated with kindness. This is also required by law.
How to become a chaperone.
First of all you nee to apply to YOUR local council, for example if you live in Trafford you would apply to them, same for Manchseter and other councils.
You will be asked to fill out a form, send ID documents and possibly pay a small fee for the DBS, if you do it under the VOLUNTEER section it should cost around £10 and if you keep the receipt for this I will reimburse you.
Please also sign up to the Updated Barring Service, this will keep your DBS upto date for as long as you need it (Free of charge I believe)
If you could start this process ASAP as some councils take a while to get things moving.
